I find inspiration for patterns everywhere I look, especially in nature. From a spring flower to the feather of a bird, I do my best to capture those lines, shapes, and colors then put them on paper (or fabric)! I cherish the gifts nature gives me and I hope you cherish the spaces in which my patterns live.

Meet the Founder
Nice to meet you! I’m Rana, founder of Rana Ann LLC and surface pattern designer. I discovered surface pattern design by accident after a decade in the corporate world, and my world changed forever.
During many stressful days, I took nature walks to cope. I started noticing the birds and flowers, their colors, and reveled in the vividness of nature’s palette. I had become an active observer of the world around me. The more time I spent away from a desk, the more at peace I began to feel.
One day, I saw a post from a surface pattern designer who was turning found flowers into patterns, and a light bulb went off. I can do that! So, I learned— and watched tutorials, read blogs, analyzed patterns, and taught myself how to achieve a technical repeat. I was hooked! The fear of not knowing what came next in my life faded, and the power to create took over.
A year later, I officially launched Rana Ann LLC and released my first pattern collection available for licensing. I still have an endless list of things to explore, try, and create, but my peace is still intact and I hope you find my patterns delightful and inspiring.
The Pattern Process
A pattern starts with a picture—the creative inspiration. Then, we hand sketch elements of the photo that become the motif. We digitalize, colorize, and arrange motifs on a page to form a technical repeating pattern that can be used on surfaces of a variety of products.
